Albatros Travel & Safaris is owned by Albatros Travel A/S in Copenhagen, Denmark as well as local African partners all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience in the travel business. In 1985 biologist Søren Rasmussen founded Albatros Travel in Copenhagen and today Albatros Travel consists of a team of travel experts, including several biologists. Albatros Travel is a member of various nature conservation groups such as WWF and is an accepted pioneer of ecological tourism. With all the positive effects that come from increased tourism into a country or area we recognise that without the proper attention, there can also be negative effects on the environment and society. As a result we strive to operate in an environmentally friendly way which has a minimum impact on the natural environment and we promote hotels and lodges which have a genuine environmentally friendly policy. We encourage and promote interaction with local cultures enriching the experience of the visitor and contributing socially and economically to local communities. We have our own in house training programs, where we educate own local staff and guides.

Our Environmental guidelines:
1. Please show respect for the local population, the animals and the nature. Please refrain from buying threatened animal and plant parts, as well as corals. When driving in natural sourroundings, please stay on the marked roads and take the litter with you.

2. Show respect to the locale customs. Please dress appropriate, when visiting private homes or villages. Maybe learn to greet in local language.

3. Take Your time. Remember You are on holiday, and in some cultures rush is considered impolite.
4. Taking pictures: Please always ask for permission before you take pictures of people.
5. Shopping: If you buy local products, you support the local economy. And if you bargain about the price, remember it has to be fun to shop and a good deal is when both parties are happy.

6. Begging: Please do not give money to beggars, especially not children. If you want to donate give it to the school teachers or to local organisations.

7. Save Energy by switching off the light, when you leave the room, by having a shower in stead of a bath (and water is scarce in some parts of Africa). Buy recycled goods.
